Highway 111 Yard Sale Article
The secrets to a great yard sale
In order to get an exceptional yard sale you will have to consider these factors. The price you are willing to sell your objects for. You know the saying that customers are always right? Well when you do a yard sale the saying takes all its sense because you might have to lower your price if you want to get rid of your junk.
Sell low not high
Do not sell your items for more than what you might expect to see if you went at a yard sale and saw that thing. Sure you’re in there to make a few bucks, but your not selling to make this month’s rent. Remember it was junk! These were things that were drawing dust. Bottom line is that you will not get a lot for these anyways so if you’re willing to sell them, take the offer but if you want, you can always negotiate. Also remind yourself that even if you like an object with the bottom of your heart it doesn’t mean that your customers will care or feel the same way…
The lower the better
Think of all the garage sale you ever went to and think of how many items were more than five dollars. You can probably count it on the fingers of your hand. Keep it that way if you want any success in your garage sale unless you have a Pablo Picasso painting hidden in your garage, then this is another story. Some wont deal, some of them will so be open.
Sell things as a bunch
If you really want to impress the old ladies or even the women out there, take that make up kit that you won at the office Christmas party or a Chinese gift exchange and sell it as a whole and add a few samples of cream. Most likely that people will pay more if there is a lot. Another good attractor is collectible items.
Get rid of
If you really want to get rid of your tons of glasses you have in your cupboards, make a deal like a two for one event. The people just love those promotions you’re your sales might go through the roof. Remember you want money; the others want your stuff. Go further and offer a free item if they buy so many items.
Bad condition means small prices
Be realistic, if you want to sell a puzzle that’s missing pieces, don’t sell it for 3$ because some might curse at you. It’s the same thing for books. If some pages are ripped, you won’t convince people to spend more than a few bucks to get their hands on it. Dusting may help too you’ll notice. You might not only increase the value of sale but maybe a sale itself.
How it’s worth
Want to stop being asked how it’s worth? Put how much it costs on little stickers of each items. Finally, be warned, you will be haggled. Happy selling!
